In May 2008, I visited the Oakland Juvenile Detention Facility and talked about my books girls being held in the facility. Here is one of the letters.
Dear Yasmin,
I really appreciate you taking the time to come out and share your thoughts with us. It really meant a lot to me. I really liked the book Retaliation. I learned from reading your book that retaliation is not always the best way to go.
From many experiences I've always retaliated and the problems only escalated. I think that your book is a book that all teens should read.
